Riders in the snow......

this is what huskys do when they are not outside sleeping in the snow.

todays ride was 3.5 hours 170 ave. HR and i felt strong!!! good ride. it started off kinda cold and windy. which changed to snowing and windy. made my way down 39th to 7th, then spent the rest of the time doing 5 laps on 7th from downtown to where 7th curves up to 9th and back.
.
.
.the first pass was ok. a little windy, but the snow was just starting and not to bad

then it got worse. the bike lane got messed up with ruts from people riding in and out. the 4" of snow hide the ice and bumps.
.
.on the thrid lap i just got in the slow lane and followed the first tire track. hey i was keeping up with traffic and even passing. ave. speed was 22-24 mph.
.
.on the last lap ice was forming under the the cars tire tracks so i called it quits as it got too slippery. i aired down to 18 psi from the start, so going lower was not an option. good leg workout at that pressure though.

more drivetrain torcher today. i gotta say that since changing back to the sram xo from the xtr, shifting has been flawless. even in this muck. click, shift, click, shift.....love it.
.
.
.
.
.
.so as good samaritine, i stoped to help a lady who got her front wheel car stuck in the gutter of the street. pushed her back and then foward and off she went.
.
.latter going up 33rd. i came upon a newer mercedez going 1/2 mile per hour. i looked down as i passed and the rear tire was just spinning. so i jumped off the bike, got behind the car and pushed, pushed, pushed. got him up to 5 mph and the ran back, got on the bike and while riding, put my hand on his rear fender and pushed until he got up the rest of the hill.
.
.
.
.all along the ride people were honking, waving and giving me the thumbs up. what? don't people ride bikes in the snow here? anyways its nice to get good attention from the cars.
.
.
.my gu shot bottle never froze, just got thick. but my carb/protien drink got so slushy that i had to stop and scoop it out to get a drink. i don't think 7/11 is going to make that flavor slurpie anytime soon.
.
.

oh yeah, made a helmet snowcone again. this time the snow was actualy blocking the wind from hitting my head.

I might do the Iidarod this year

instead of my dog pulling, i will be doing all the work.
if i keep up all this snow riding this year, we are a shoe-in for the win!!!!
